Water Safety~Lesson plan

Water Saftey~Lesson plan

As you probably aware I’m doing Water Safety for my passion project. I am really looking forward to teaching the class about everything I have learned about being safe around water. Yes I know that I’m not an expert about water safety but I will be after I finish this topic. 😉

Introduction
~Ask the class questions on what they already know about water safety
~Explain what the point of people knowing water safety is. Not just telling them “Yeah you know water safety is important so we don’t drown”

I will explain the number of drowning deaths and where many people drown and all other things about water safety.
For my activity I don’t think I need any thing the class will just make up a little play. :-p

Why I want to teach this to the class
I believe this is a topic that is not talked about much and with summer coming up the risk of people drowning is 34% and if we get into trouble at the beach, pools, rivers etc. We know what to do. 🙂

Passion Project- Water Safety

index
For my passion project I have decided to do water safety. Some questions I have been researching on are.
-Why water safety is important for everyone to know?
-What is the number of deaths from drowning?
– Some different organisations that help support water safety in Australia?

My idea for teaching the class is first educate them why it’s important to know about water safety. Then in small groups they make a play of safety near or in the water. For all of the information I have been finding I have a book I have been recording all my research in.

Did you know that that number of people who drowned in 2013 and 2014 was 266 people and 81% of then were male so that means 19% were women?
I have really been enjoying the week and a bit we have been doing this project on I really like how we can choose something we like and are interested in to learn about.

Training with the Hockeyroo’s

I chose this piece of writing to share because I believe I used good sentence fluency and also word choice. This day would have to go down in my history books, as one of the best days in my life because now, I really do believe that you can do anything you put your mind to and make that dream a reality.

As I grabbed out my hockey stick and pulled up my socks. I started to get a bit nervous. Not knowing what was about to happen. For all I know I could completely humiliate myself in front of five of Australia’s best women hockey players. 5 minutes pass then an hour I haven’t managed to make a full of myself just yet and look like I don’t know what I’m doing. The training was unfortunately over. But there was still time to get photos and smile for the camera. We also had the opportunity to get some signatures from the five Hockeyroo’s players we met. At this point I was jumping for joy I got my hockey stick signed and got photos with four of the girls
 Anna Flanagan
 Georgie Parker
 Emily Smith &
 Rachael Lynch
I was really thankful for this moment and it really boosted my confidence in knowing you can do anything you put your mind to and keep working and that dream can happen.
